The Palau Robert is situated at the Passeig de Gràcia 107, at the corner with the Avinguda Diagonal. This building was constructed between 1898 and 1903 as a private residence for Robert Robert I Surís, the Marquis of Robert, a prominent politician and financer. Nowadays the Palau Robert is property of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Catalan government. The complex consists out of three exhibition halls, a concert hall, an information centre of the Catalonian region, a tourism office of the city of Barcelona, a bookstore and a pleasant park that is accessible for public.

The Monestir de Santa Maria de Pedralbes was founded in the beginning of the 14th century and is situated on a small hill called Sant pere Màrtir on an upper part of Barcelona. It contains numerous amounts of artifacts, religious items and furniture that the nuns collected throughout the years.

The Jardí Botànic is situated on the hill of Montjuïc, between the Olympic Stadium, the Castle and the Cemetary of Montjuïc. The park counts 14 hectares of ground and was build at an area  with big height differences. It has the form of an amphitheatre and gives a beautiful view over Barcelona.

No trip to Europe would be complete without a visit to historical sites in Barcelona. A city steeped in culture, Barcelona traces its history back to 230 BC, when it was part of the Catalonia Empire. The city was founded by the Carthaginians, but conquered by the Romans and became part of the Roman Empire. Barcelona was absorbed by various empires throughout the years, and eventually became part of what we now call Spain in the 15th century. As you might expect, this rich history has left Barcelona with numerous sites that are 'must sees' when traveling through Spain. Following are a few historic buildings and monuments to visit in Barcelona.

Right next to the Casa Batlló, on the Passeig de Gràcia, is the beautiful Casa Amatller situated. This house is yet another pearl of the modernistic architecture in Barcelona. It isn’t a realization from Antoni Gaudí but from one of the other well-know architects of the Catalan modernism, Josep Puig i Cadalfach. He designed lots of buildings in Barcelona and the rest of Catalonia among which the old textile factory where at the moment Caixaforum is situated.

To explore Barcelona in a fun and alternative way you can hire a gocart. Thanks to the build in GPS-systems in these carts you will hear information about the attractions you’ll pass by on your route through the city. Presently you can hire these carts via the company GoCar.
