Las Arenas is the newest shopping mall of Barcelona. This mall will be the most beautiful and unique one considering it is established in the old Plaza de Toros, a bull fighting ring, situated at Plaza Espanya, nearby the magic fountains of Barcelona. The build and renovation of this old arena to a modern and unique shopping mall took several years and is due to financial problems been interrupted a couple of times.

Las Arenas did cost the company Metrovacesa 70 million Euros, what is a huge amount of money for a shopping mall, but definitely worth visiting when you’re in the Catalan capital. The mall itself consists out of 6 floors from which three are meant for the 116 shops and the other three for activities like bars, restaurants, a cinema, a sport centre, a concert hall and the Rock Museum of Barcelona.

It catches the eye that next to Fnac also a few other well known brand are present in the mall, like: Desigual, Mango, Calvin Klein and the 8th Nespresso store of the city. Stores like Zara and Berschka will not be there because the shopping space just isn’t big enough for them. Underneath the complex you can find a Mercadona supermarket and a parking-lot consisting out of four floors with room for 1250 cars and 500 motorbikes.

The new plaza will certainly be worthwhile visiting given it’s a remarkable building and location, build in 1900 and where the last bull fighting game was held in 1977. After years of neglecting the abatement is over and Las Arenas shopping centre is a fact.
