The new Rock museum, the museum where Barcelona has waited for so long, is established in the new shopping centre Las Arenas and opens its doors this week’s Friday, the 1st of April. In the museum you can watch all kinds of rock relics, take for example the first guitar of John Lennon and the wedding dress of Madonna worn at her ‘Like a Virgin’ Tour. The museum has 4 rooms. Room 1 takes you back to the origins with figures like Bill Haley, Johnny Cash and the ‘king’ himself Elvis Presley.

Room 2 is focused on The Beatles and their history. The heroes of the Rolling Stones are highlighted in room 3 and in room 4 the focus is set on the national rock scene. Besides this the museum has sections like the 60s-70s, the 80s-90s and 2000s. Furthermore the Museu del Rock offers temporary exhibitions, an auditorium and the fun ‘ON STAGE’ area, where visitors can taste the feeling of being a rock star with all the equipment, lights and screaming of fans included.
The museum is an initiative of Jordi Tardà, a critic and journalist. It is going to be 2000 square meters and there will be more than 5000 objects to be seen.
