Near sea, at the Northern part of Barcelona, Parc del Fòrum is situated. This complex was built as result of the Fòrum Universal de les Cultures in 2004, an international event with exhibitions, spectacles and conferences, especially with themes like sustainable development, peace initiatives and cultural diversity. Nowadays concerts, sport and other activities are taking place here. The complex has several big rooms that together can accommodate up to 130.000 people.

The white communication tower of Montjuïc is a realization of the Valencian architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava. She was built between 1989 and 1991 in the so called Olympic Ring of Montjuïc as a result of the Olympic Games held in 1992. In these Olympic Ring you can also find the Palau Sant Jordi and the Olympic Stadium.

Barcelona is truly an international city with its rich mix of cultures, commerce, education, science and the arts. The port is one of the busiest in Europe, and so is its airport. Many people come to Barcelona on short or long-term visits, or they move there for educational, business or social reasons. For those visiting the city, there are accommodation options that fit any budget, and if you’re not staying for long, one good way to see as many beauties of Barcelona as possible is by renting a car.

With her mosaic, gardens and pavilions the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona forms a jewel in the modernistic architecture of Catalonia. This hospital was designed by the architect LIuís Domènech i Montaner that among others designed the Palau de la Música.

An excellent idea for a sultry summer day is to make a trip on sea. It’s possible in Barcelona thanks to the ‘golondrinas’. These trips with passenger boats were set up for the 1888 World Fair, and are one of Barcelona’s oldest attractions. From Port Vell, near the statue of Columbus, you can make a trip through the harbour or alongside the coast to the complex of Fòrum.

One of the most eye-catching and modern buildings in Barcelona is without any doubt the Torre Agbar. This skyscraper is situated in between the Avinguda Diagonal and the Carrer Badajoz, near Plaça de les Glòries.
