What's On in Barcelona

BCNmp7 Music in progress aims to higilight the diversity of music in the city, while exploring other visions of the current music scene. Along with the diversity it hopes to show music's specificity and the way it can communicate between cities, regions and countries.

The concert is on the 9th April 6pm-11pm and costs 3,60€.

Post-It City explores temporary, overlapping uses of the urban territory, centering on the perspectives offered by architecture, urban planning and the visual arts. The exhibition uncovers this phenomenon through a broad portfolio of projects based around the idea of the "post-it city", a type of transient city that infiltrates  the regular city in temporary and anonymous yet influential ways.

The exhibition is running until 15th December 2010

"Sounds Brilliant. From sounds to images" explores the transition and influences from sound and music into images. The exhibition in in the CCCB and is a series of screening of films based on sounds. There are 7 or so films marking the journey between the two and exploiting the, often overlooked., relevance of sound in images. It is on until the 22nd of April and costs from 3,50€ to 12,50€ according to the amount of sessions you watch.

Mika the award-winning London based pop star is touring with his "Songs for Sorrow" album. He is playing in Palau San Jordi on April the 18th and tickets are selling out fast and are pretty expensive. It promises to be a great concert, and Mika although not the most orthodox of pop stars is a great musician.

The concert starts at 8pm and tickets cost between 115€ and 135€.

Clemens Behr's exhibition opened on the 16th March and is running until the 30th April. His abstract shapes and designs are most definitely worth a visit especially as it is free. He uses the simplest materials and colours and yet creates a profoundness you would not expect.

Local, Local! is an exhibition compiled by the CCCB to mark the 30 year anniversary of the return of democratic counsils. It explores the changes towns, citites, and indeed territories have gone through during this period.

It is running until the 25th April and opens every morning at 11.

Dos Menos has returned through huge demand after its great success in Madrid and Buenos Aires. It is about two men escaping from their imminent deaths by revoking reality and enjoying thier last moments with humour and tenderness.

The play runs from 17th March to 4th April in the Teatre Poliorama

Barcelona's excellent Basketball team meet Real Madrid home and away in the Quater Finals of the Euroleague. Barca's basketball team is as successful as their football team and if you have been to Camp Nou or are not a football fan then definitely try and get tickets to a basketball game. Tickets range from 12€ to 63€ depending on where you sit, but the atmosphere is the same throughout the stadium.

Barcelona v Real Madrid is on the 20th March at 6pm.

Blood Red Shoes are an Indie Rock band from Brighton. They are playing in Razzmatazz on the 9th of April and only costs 12€. The band have had great success in the past couple of years and Razzmatazz is a great venue with loads of space and different rooms.

Rai Escalé's exhibition opened on Thursday 11th March and runs until the 17th April in The Iguapop Gallery. Go and see his slightly perverse yet innovative art for free and you will be amazed at the sentiment he has managed to portray from a canvas.

Cerda Tour: Green spaces on the limits of Eixample is a cycle tour from little green space to green space in Eixample, parts often unknown to the inhabitants of Barcelona. It explores private gardens and urban parks and invites you to see a whole new side to the little yet vital parts of greenery in an urban environment.

The tour takes about 3-4 hours and starts from the CCCB costs 8€ (concessions 5€)

Silencis explores the work of Carles Cortés and is contextualised by Raval. It uncovers the reasons that lead to racism or sexual abuse and explores the perpetrator abused. It is on Sunday 21st March in El Teatre del Raval at 9pm and costs between 16-18€.

Atopia the City in the 21st Century, is an exhibiton open until the 24th March. It contains lots of different work which explores the disparity that exists between the city and the individual. it explores the sense of unease and awkwardness present in society. It exhibits work from the likes of Vanessa Beecroft and Thomas Ruff among some 70 others.

Ya Lo Tengo the alternative rock band from New Jersey are playing in Sala Apolo on the 19th March. Apolo is a great venue as it is like an empty concert hall. It is as big as a warehouse but has a more grand decor with a balcony all the way around the room.
