Near sea, at the Northern part of Barcelona, Parc del Fòrum is situated. This complex was built as result of the Fòrum Universal de les Cultures in 2004, an international event with exhibitions, spectacles and conferences, especially with themes like sustainable development, peace initiatives and cultural diversity. Nowadays concerts, sport and other activities are taking place here. The complex has several big rooms that together can accommodate up to 130.000 people.

Firstly you can watch the Avinguda Leonarda Da Vinci. This is an avenue of 200 meters long and 50 meters wide that stretches out to Plaça dels Afussellats. This is a square of about 7.000m² that gives you a marvellous view over sea and of the future Maritime Zoo of Barcelona.

Secondly you’ll find the Forum building there in the form of a triangle with a height of 25 meters. It is designed by the Swedish architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron and has among others a permanent exhibition room. You can watch expositions of ‘Barcelona Sensacions’ and ‘Barcelona Projecte’. Besides this there’s also a polyvalent room of 1500m².

Further you’ll find Esplanada in Parc del Fòrum. With her surface of about 84.000m² it is an ideal place to give fairs and music festivals. The gigantic solar panel of 1.700m² on this esplanade has become the symbol of the complex. Next to this there’s a pavilion of pillars with solar panels and a roof construction that with sunny weather throws a shade of 1.200m² in the form of a bird over the esplanade.

The Parc dels Auditoris is a big space in the open air near sea with a surface of 12.000m² where among others concerts are being held. It contains a big auditorium with a capacity for 3.500 persons and a small auditorium good for 1.500 persons.

Finally you’ll also find a bath zone in Parc del Fòrum. This was designed by architect Beth Galí and is a new concept of a beach, that is without sand and with zones where the sea is very shallow. It has a surface of 7.000m² and is covering 250 meters of coastline. In this zone you’ll also find a artificial island at about 60 meters from the coast.
