Ways to Save Money While Traveling in Barcelona

Save moneyTraveling to Barcelona is a relatively cheap activity when you are already in Europe. There are plenty of low cost airlines including: Ryan Air, EasyJet, Vueling and Iberian Airlines, flying in and out of Barcelona. If a trip is booked properly, your airfare is usually very reasonable. But then there are the other four big costs involved in every trip, hotel, transportation, sightseeing and dinning.

When it comes to transportation, you really do have options. You can obviously spend high prices on taking taxis everywhere or you can explore the wonderful metro system of Barcelona for a cheap fare. It all begins at the airport, while taxiing to the city center is a possibility, check out these two low cost options, the Aerobus, which runs from the airport to Plaza Catalonia for 5,05 Euros or the train, which is one metro fare of 1,45 Euros and also takes you to the city center. Catching the Aerobus is the easiest option, it is convenient and easy to find, especially after traveling. Once you are in the city, grab a metro map! The metro system of Barcelona is very easy to navigate and you can travel nearly anywhere in the city. Not to mention, the city is basically a grid system, so walking from point A to point B is always an option. Transportation is a very simple way to save money during a visit to the lovely Barcelona.

Everyone wants to be a little bit of a tourist when they are in Barcelona, but not everyone wants to spend the money. So, avoid the high cost of going to every sight, and engage in free activities. It is easy to go explore the famous Gaudi architecture by simply visiting La Sagrada Familia, walking down Passeig de Gracia to view Gaudi’s building or venturing to Parque Güell. Other fun outdoor activities include walking around Montjuïc, you can see all the Olympic facilities and explore the view of the city, or you could hike up Tibidabo and get in plenty of exercise for another amazing view of the city. Don’t forget to explore the city by foot as well, including an adventure to the beach, a walk through the Gothic Quarter and a stroll down La Rambla.

Staying in Barcelona can normally be one of the larger expenses of a trip to the city, however, you should still attempt to stay near the city center, because transportation is less expensive. You have a few options, you can look into renting an apartment, which is not too expensive, or you can explore the hostels of Barcelona for a very inexpensive fee. You can also try timeshare rentals which include luxurious amenities at pretty inexpensive prices when you rent from an owner, plus they are easy to find online. Getting a hotel is always an option, but some city hotels can get very pricey, especially during the late spring and summer months.

Eating is another way to break our bank in Barcelona, but if you do it right, sticking to a budget is pretty simple. When it comes to breakfast, finding a cheap cup or coffee and croissant is relatively easy, and buying fresh fruit at any given market is always an easy way to save some Euros. Around lunch, you can get a filling and classic meal at any restaurant in the city. Every restaurant is required to offer a menu of the day, which is normally under 10 Euros and gives you a taste of Barcelona. When it comes to dinner, avoid the Catalan restaurants and aim for authentic cuisines from other countries, normally around dinner these restaurants have cheaper prices.

If you are visiting the city, why not take a look at barcelona rentals?
