Park Güell
Park Güell is one of the most visited sites in Barcelona as it combines some of Gaudi´s most reknowned architecture with a natural park and the most spectacular view of Barcelona.
The site was originally meant to be a housing develpment to make full use of the fresh air and provide luxury housing. It was the idea of Eusebii Güell and Gaudí started work in 1900 but in 1906 Güell moced into Larrard House a house i¡on the same site that already existed and thus only two houses of the proposed complex were built one of which Gaudí bought. You can still visit his house if you go to the park, where there is still some furniture designed by Gaudi himself.
The site was then turned into a municipal park as it is now and it has some of the most amazing architecture ingrained in the nature. The parkcontain statues and mosaic benches and is a great place to go and visit not to mention the view.
There is the most spectacular view from the hill of el Carmel and you can see the whole of Barcelona.
The park is well connected, you can take the metro or the bus but you will still face a slight walk upwards or alternatively there are special tourist buses which can take you slightly nearer.
The park itself is free but if you wish to go and look round Gaudí´s house it will cost you 4 euros. It is open from 10am to 6pm every day in the winter and till 9pm inthe summer.
