The beaches of Barcelona

One of the many trumps of Barcelona is without any doubt its 4,5 kilometres long beach. In fact the Barcelonese beach is divided in 8 smaller beaches, each with their own name. Almost at every beach of Barcelona you’ll find toilets, showers, drinking fountains and emergency posts. Following you’ll find the different beaches Barcelona has.

The Platja de Sant Sebastià is stretching from the breakwater of the harbour to the Carrer de l’Almirall Cervera and has a length of 1100 meters. This beach is situated near the Barceloneta quarter that’s well-known for its many restaurant where you can enjoy delicious fish and shell-fish dishes. You’ll also find centre de la Platja there, where people give information about the Barcelonese beaches and where regularly sportive cultural activities are being held. At this beach you can hire sunshades, beach chairs and bikes. Moreover there is a playground, a ping-pong table and a gym.

Further on you’ll find the Platja de Nova Icària. It stretches from the Olympic harbour to the pier of Bogatell and has a length of 400 meters. It’s a quite tranquil beach that is being visited by many Barcelonese families.

The Platja del Bogatell stretches out from the pier of Bogatell to the pier of the Ferrocarrol and has a length of 600 meters. This beach was created for the Olympic Games of 1992.

The Platja de la Mar Bella is the beach from the pier of Ferrocarril to the pier of Bac de Roda and counts 500 meters of which a big part is intended for naturists. This beach is mainly being visited by young people.

From the pier of Bac de Roda to the breakwater of Prim you’ll find Platja Nova Mar Bella which is 420 meters long. This was constructed for the Olympic Games of 1992 as well.

Further on Platja de Llevant is situated. It stretches out from the breakwater of Prim to the under construction Maritime Zoo. It has a length of 380 meters.

Finally you have Platja del Fòrum, designed by architect Beth Galí. It is a beach without any sand, with zones where the sea is very shallow. This beach has a surface of 7000m² and a coastline of 250 meter. You’ll find a infirmary, a restaurant with terrace and facilities for people with a physical handicap there.
